The Land Rover Discovery is a great vehicle for both family and work that can cope with any off-road conditions you throw at it.
The Land Rover Discovery 1 was launched in the UK in the late 1980s (1989).
Pre 1994 the Discovery 1 had engine options of a 2.5-litre 200 Tdi engine or the 3.5-litre Rover V8. When the 1994 Discovery 1 update was released the engine options were a 2.5 L 300Tdi 4-cylinder and 3.9-litre Rover V8 engines.
The Land Rover Discovery 2 was launched in 1998. Although it looked like the previous series, the Discovery 2 was advertised as having 720 improvements.
The engine options changed to 2.5-litre TD5 model which was also used in updated Land Rover Defender models. The V8 petrol option was now the Range Rover P38 Thor 4.0-litre Rover-derived V8.
The Discovery 3 was launched in 2004. And looked remarkably more modern than the previous 2 series. The Discovery 3 was also the first model to offer full air suspension. The engine options include a 2.7-litre V6 diesel engine (TdV6), and a 4.4-litre petrol V8.
Its state-of-the-art electronics allowing the car to use Bluetooth, and it also boasted the famous Terrain Response system, which facilitates suspension adapted to ground conditions. It was called “the best 4x4 of all time” by BBC’s Top Gear.
The Discovery 4 is an updated version of the Discovery 3. It used the same body and frame structure, with most of the improvements being mechanical to help with reliability around the engine, gearbox, suspension and brakes. The rounder, smoother body shape was also adopted as was seen on Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models.
The Series 5 Land Rover Discovery was first available in 2017. The Discovery 5 shares much of the same platform as the Range Rover which means a more modern appearance while still performing great off-road.
